Fonseca Makes Personal History!

The biggest storyline belonged to Joao Fonseca, who produced the first two-set comeback victory of his young career to defeat Dino Prizmic in five sets.

Fonseca looked finished after dropping the opening two sets, but the Brazilian teenager completely flipped the match with his aggressive baseline play and fearless shot-making.

The comeback win continued his breakout run in Paris and further cemented his status as one of the sport’s fastest-rising stars.

Mensik Collapses after Marathon Victory over Navone

Another dramatic battle saw Jakub Mensik survive a marathon against Mariano Navone. Mensik escaped with a 13-11 victory in the deciding-set tiebreak after nearly five hours on court in one of the wildest matches of the tournament so far.

Exhausted after the massive win, Mensik needed assistance leaving the court following the grueling contest.

Djokovic Rolls On

Meanwhile, Novak Djokovic faced a tougher challenge than expected from French wildcard Valentin Royer on Court Philippe-Chatrier. Djokovic appeared in complete control early before Royer won the third set, but the Serbian veteran closed the door late to end it in four.

The Rest of the 2026 French Open Men’s Storylines!

While several stars struggled, Alexander Zverev and Casper Ruud delivered dominant performances.

Zverev dismantled Tomas Machac 6-2, 6-2, 6-4 in one of his cleanest performances of the tournament, while Ruud cruised past Hamad Medjedovic in straight sets and continued to look extremely dangerous on clay.

One of the day’s biggest upsets came from Thiago Agustin Tirante, who knocked out Alejandro Davidovich Fokina in four sets. Tirante controlled the match physically after splitting the opening two sets and outlasted the Spaniard from the baseline.

The French crowd also suffered a major disappointment when Quentin Halys eliminated fellow Frenchman Ugo Humbert in straight sets.

Elsewhere, Tommy Paul advanced comfortably past Lorenzo Sonego, while Andrey Rublev survived a dangerous four-set battle against Camilo Ugo Carabelli.

Teenager Rafael Jodar also continued his impressive run with a four-set win over veteran James Duckworth.

With the draw already producing marathon matches, major upsets, and breakout performances, the chaos at Roland Garros shows no signs of slowing down.
