Three Metz Challenger Storylines

Moïse Kouamé Is Coming in Hot

The 17-year-old Frenchman won his first Challenger title Sunday in Brest, defeating Martin Damm 6-4, 6-7(5), 7-6(4).

Kouamé became the youngest French Challenger champion since Richard Gasquet in 2003. His ranking has climbed to No. 130, and another strong indoor performance could push him closer to the Top 100.

Bonzi Returns to Familiar Territory

Benjamin Bonzi won his first ATP Tour title at Metz in 2024, defeating Cameron Norrie in straight sets. Now ranked No. 99 on the entry list, he’s back at the same venue, but at Challenger level.

Local favorite Harold Mayot also returns home, giving French fans another player with something to prove.

Jacquet Has Already Proven He Belongs

Kyrian Jacquet reached the Hangzhou semifinals and Tokyo quarterfinals in September, beating Holger Rune and Luciano Darderi during the latter run.

The 25-year-old has broken into the Top 100 this season. He isn’t simply another French player filling out the draw. With those results behind him, Jacquet could be a problem in Metz.
