Angola Ladies Open Entry List Storylines
Anna Blinkova brings proven hard-court results to Luanda
Anna Blinkova reached the Barranquilla WTA 125 final in September, then reached the semifinals at the São Paulo WTA 250 and Samsun WTA 125 in October.
She went 10-3 across those three hard-court tournaments, including a 6-3, 6-4 win over Bianca Andreescu in Samsun. As the highest-ranked player on the Luanda entry list, Blinkova enters with the strongest recent results on the tournament’s surface.
Clara Burel faces a surface change after two WTA 125 titles
Clara Burel captured two clay-court WTA 125 titles in four weeks, defeating Alicia Herrero Liñana 4-6, 6-0, 6-2 in the Valencia final on September 20 and Leyre Romero Gormaz 6-4, 6-3 in Lisbon on October 18.
Those tournaments produced nine on-court victories and one walkover. Luanda presents a different challenge, with Burel moving from her successful clay-court stretch to outdoor hard courts against a field led by Anna Blinkova.
Alicia Dudeney arrives after an impressive indoor hard-court stretch
Alicia Dudeney won the Birmingham ITF W35 title on October 17 without dropping a set across five matches. Her run included a 6-2, 6-4 quarterfinal victory over fellow Luanda entrant Angella Okutoyi.
Dudeney followed that title with two more Wrexham W100 victories before losing to Elsa Jacquemot in the quarterfinals. Her 7-1 record across those two tournaments shows strong recent form, although Luanda’s outdoor conditions differ from indoor hard courts.
