2026 Cali Open Entry List storylines to watch

Bianca Andreescu arrives with a title and renewed momentum

Andreescu captured the Rovereto WTA 125 title on October 18, defeating Dominika Šalková 7-6(2), 6-2. The Canadian also beat top seed Antonia Ružić during that run and climbed 36 places in the rankings.

The Canadian has won only one clay court title (2017), and is 40-26 across her 12-year career on this surface.

Francesca Jones and Fiona Ferro could renew their Palermo rivalry

Jones has already won two clay-court WTA 125 titles in 2026, taking Rome and Palermo in July. She beat fellow Cali entrant Fiona Ferro, 6-0, 4-6, 7-6(6), in a 2-hour, 41-minute Palermo final.

Lucia Bronzetti, whom Jones beat for the Rome title, is also on the Cali entry list.

Emiliana Arango returns to Colombian clay seeking another deep run

Emiliana Arango reached the Bogotá WTA 250 semifinals in April, defeating Varvara Lepchenko before falling to Panna Udvardy in three sets.

The Colombian will look to build on that performance in Cali, where she’ll have another opportunity to make a deep run on home soil.

Lepchenko is also entered in the qualifying field, setting up a potential rematch.
