Madison Keys and Naomi Osaka have withdrawn from the Dubai WTA 1000, headlining a fresh wave of pre-draw changes that also includes Veronika Kudermetova, Loïs Boisson, and Eva Lys.
With five players out, five alternates move into the main draw, and that can change who the seeds draw in the opening rounds, and drastically reduces the chance for any opening round upsets.
Key’s departure still leaves the Dubai Duty Free Championships with nine of the WTA Tour’s top 10, which should make for an exciting week of tennis.
