On Sunday, Mirra Andreeva hoisted her second-consecutive WTA 1000 title, defeating World No. 1 Aryna Sabalenka (2-6, 6-4, 6-3) to win her first BNP Paribas Open at Indian Wells Tennis Garden.

Andreeva joins (Steffi Graf, 1987 Miami) and (Serena Williams, 1999 US Open ) as the only women under 18 to defeat World No. 1 and World No. 2 in the same event.

Here are the Top 10 players she’s beaten on her run to consecutive WTA 1000 titles.

  • Aryna Sabalenka
  • Iga Swiatek (Twice)
  • Elena Rybakina (Twice)

The newest arrival to the WTA Tour Top 10 dropped only two sets of tennis on her road to her maiden BNP Paribas Open WTA 1000 title.

Her poise under fire and her two-hander down the line will earn the precocious Russian big titles and many Rubles.

The scary part? Andreeva is 17-years-old, and her camp did her a solid hiring Hall of Famer Conchita Martinez on the bag.

Martinez is one of the best tactical and mechanical coaches on Tour. The former World No. 1’s ability to see the forest through the trees has been a boon for the teenager.

Andreeva could have gone in the tank after dropping Sunday’s finale’s opening set, especially after being blasted by Sabalenka Down Under.

Instead, she held her nerve when she needed to. Andreeva fought her way back into the match, firing her duece down the line, breaking Sabalenka early in the third to hang on for her second WTA 1000 title in less than one month.

The 17-year-old Russian is 13-1 since losing to Sabalenka in Melbourne.

I LOVE how she “thanks herself after winning titles. I could get used to seeing MUCH more of this.
