Three Storylines to Watch

Rybakina and Pegula Lead a Strong WTA 500 Field

Elena Rybakina and Jessica Pegula sit at the top of the entry list with few easy outs. Iga Świątek, Elina Svitolina, Marta Kostyuk, and Belinda Bencic are all here, and in a 28-player WTA 500 draw, the dangerous matches can start almost immediately.

Osaka Gets Another Shot in Tokyo

Naomi Osaka will naturally command plenty of attention in Tokyo. Playing at home always brings another layer to the week, and Osaka won’t have much room to ease into this tournament. With this field, she could face a quality opponent from her opening match onward.

Plenty of Trouble Outside the Top Names

This field isn’t just about the stars at the top. Jasmine Paolini, Leylah Fernandez, Ekaterina Alexandrova, Elise Mertens, Diana Shnaider, and Anna Kalinskaya add serious depth.
