2026 Almaty Open Entry List: Medvedev Returns to Defend Title

Defending champion Daniil Medvedev headlines the 2026 Almaty Open entry list, with Alexander Bublik, Andrey Rublev, Karen Khachanov, Luciano Darderi, and Stefanos Tsitsipas also entered.

Medvedev returns as the highest-ranked player in the field at No. 6 in the world and will look to defend the title he won in Kazakhstan last season.

The field has considerably more depth than most ATP 250 events, with several Top 50 players and a number of dangerous hardcourt names positioned further down the entry list.

Home favorite Bublik will again be one of the tournament’s biggest attractions, while Rublev and Khachanov add two more established hardcourt threats near the top of the field, beginning Oct. 15, 2026.

Medvedev Returns as Defending Champion

Daniil Medvedev returns to Almaty as the defending champion and the clear headliner in the field.

The slower conditions should suit his ability to extend rallies, absorb pace, and turn defense into offense, making him particularly difficult to hit through if he arrives in form.

Bublik Looks to Rebound at Home

Alexander Bublik returns to Kazakhstan after falling outside the Top 20.

The home crowd gives him a natural boost, but Almaty’s slower hardcourts can make life tougher for a player who does much of his best work behind the serve and with aggressive first-strike tennis.

That makes his ability to stay patient in longer exchanges one of the more interesting questions entering the tournament.

Rublev, Khachanov, and Tsitsipas Add Serious Depth

Andrey Rublev, Karen Khachanov, and Stefanos Tsitsipas give the Almaty field considerable name recognition beyond Medvedev and Bublik.

All three have the ability to make deep runs on hardcourts, while Tomas Machac, Fabian Marozsan, and Marin Cilic make the middle of the draw dangerous as well.

Strong Almaty Open Alternate List

The alternate list is nearly as interesting as the main field.

Rinky Hijikata currently sits first in line, followed by Terence Atmane and Marcos Giron.

Lorenzo Sonego and Mattia Bellucci are also among the first five alternates, while Aleksandar Vukic, Jacob Fearnley, Roman Safiullin, Otto Virtanen, and Kazakhstan’s Aleksandr Shevchenko are further down the list.

With withdrawals always possible before an ATP 250 event, several of those players could eventually move directly into the main draw.
