The 2026 US Open has taken several significant hits before the first ball is struck in New York.

Jannik Sinner, Jack Draper and Holger Rune headline a growing list of men’s withdrawals, while Victoria Mboko and Emma Raducanu are among nine players who have pulled out of the women’s field.

In all, at least 17 players from the original men’s and women’s entry lists are now out of the tournament.

Jannik Sinner Headlines US Open Men’s Withdrawals

Jannik Sinner’s withdrawal is easily the biggest blow to the men’s draw.

The Italian entered the North American hard-court swing as one of the leading contenders to win the US Open, and his absence dramatically changes the championship picture.

Jack Draper is another major loss. The British left-hander has established himself as one of the most dangerous hard-court players on tour, particularly when his serve and forehand are clicking.

Holger Rune also joins the withdrawal list, removing another established Top 20-caliber player from an already changing field.

The men’s withdrawal list also includes Alejandro Davidovich Fokina, Gabriel Diallo, Sebastian Korda, Ethan Quinn and Emilio Nava.

The loss of Sinner will have the largest impact on the draw and betting markets, but the collective attrition is notable.

Davidovich Fokina has enjoyed some of the best tennis of his career in 2026, while Diallo and Korda both possess the kind of aggressive hard-court games capable of causing problems in New York.

Victoria Mboko, Emma Raducanu Out of Women’s Draw

The women’s field has been hit even harder numerically, with nine players withdrawing.

Victoria Mboko is the highest-ranked player currently on the WTA withdrawal list. The Canadian had climbed to World No. 17 and was positioned to be seeded at the season’s final major.

Emma Raducanu will also miss the tournament.

Raducanu’s absence carries added significance in New York, where she produced one of the most remarkable Grand Slam runs in tennis history by winning the 2021 US Open as a qualifier.

Hailey Baptiste, Jaqueline Cristian, Ajla Tomljanovic, Laura Siegemund, Varvara Gracheva, Jil Teichmann and Irina-Camelia Begu have also withdrawn.
