Three San Diego 2 Challenger Entry List Storylines to Watch
Eliot Spizzirri Leads the Field
Eliot Spizzirri is the clear rankings leader in San Diego and gives the tournament a legitimate headliner.
The former University of Texas standout has steadily climbed through the professional ranks and will enter San Diego with the expectations that come with being the highest-ranked player in the field.
On a hardcourt in the United States, Spizzirri should be one of the players everyone else is measuring themselves against.
Another Look at America’s Next Wave
San Diego could almost double as a showcase for young American men.
Nishesh Basavareddy and Tristan Boyer are already established Challenger-level threats, while Colton Smith, Darwin Blanch, Andres Martin, Daniel Milavsky, and Trevor Svajda give the draw significant depth from the American development pipeline.
Not everyone in that group is at the same stage, but this is exactly the type of Challenger where one strong week can accelerate a young player’s climb.
Wolf and Kozlov Keep Grinding
J.J. Wolf and Stefan Kozlov are two of the most recognizable names deeper in the entry list.
Wolf has previously competed comfortably at ATP Tour level and remains dangerous when his aggressive hardcourt game is clicking. Kozlov has also spent years bouncing between tour levels and continues to work his way through the Challenger circuit.
Neither will arrive in San Diego with the ranking they once carried, but both have considerably more professional experience than many of the younger players surrounding them.
The San Diego 2 Challenger is scheduled as a CH 75 event on hardcourt, with the entry list subject to change before the draw is finalized.
