Ruud enters as the early favorite thanks to his outstanding clay-court résumé, but he’ll face stiff competition from former Top 10 players Rublev, Hubert Hurkacz, and Pablo Carreño Busta, along with dangerous clay-court specialists such as Alejandro Davidovich Fokina, Alejandro Tabilo, and Camilo Ugo Carabelli.
Perhaps the biggest surprise on this year’s entry list is the absence of defending champion Alex Michelsen. The American captured the 2025 title without dropping a set but has opted not to return, guaranteeing that Estoril will crown a new champion.
With Michelsen out, Ruud becomes the player to beat as he looks to add another Estoril trophy to his impressive clay-court collection.
Home fans will also have plenty to cheer for as Portugal’s top-ranked player, Nuno Borges, returns looking to make a deep run in front of his home crowd. Meanwhile, Belgium’s Alexander Blockx continues his rapid rise after climbing into the Top 40, while Serbia’s Hamad Medjedovic remains one of the ATP Tour’s most intriguing young prospects.
The field also features proven performers such as Matteo Arnaldi, Fábián Marozsán, Botic van de Zandschulp, Jesper de Jong, Román Andrés Burruchaga, and Luca Van Assche, giving the tournament exceptional depth from top to bottom.
With a former world No. 2 leading the draw, several former Top 10 players in pursuit, and a collection of emerging stars eager to build momentum ahead of the North American hard-court swing, the 2026 Millennium Estoril Open promises to be one of the strongest ATP 250 events of the season.
