Badosa Responds to Online Criticism After Svitolina Retirement
An online post criticized Badosa after her retirement against Svitolina.
It’s difficult to label a former world No. 2 battling a chronic back injury as “disrespectful” for attempting to compete, but the social media warriors never disappoint.

A chronic back injury is one of the most difficult issues in pro tennis. The serve rotation, second-serve kick, and explosive movement all begin in the core.
When a player like Badosa has core issues, finishing matches consistently becomes extremely difficult, but she deserves full credit for trying to fight through this horrible injury.
Given where her career once stood, it is fair to wonder how many major opportunities were disrupted by this ongoing issue.
It would be a pity if the Spaniard were forced to walk away without lifting one of the sport’s biggest trophies.
