🎾 Betting Tiers: Who to Trust and Who to Beware (WTA 2025)

(based on AvgW odds, 1u stake model, full-season performance at WTA Events only)

🟩 Tier 1 – Players Phil Mostly Trusts

These women are profitable overall, reliable in either role, and don’t torch bankrolls when favored.

These are your best WTA players to bet on, “green-light” players—smart to bet in most situations.

Top Tier 1 Profiles

• Laura Siegemund — +18.87 units
One of the biggest profit machines in the dataset. Wins as an underdog at a high rate and doesn’t hemorrhage units as a favorite.

• Alex Eala — +16.61 units
Massively profitable, strong underdog value, and doesn’t give much back as a favorite. A rising star, but maybe a bit over-hyped.

• Tatjana Maria — +10.28 units
Sneaky, profitable, and consistent. Doesn’t lose much when favored, and her slicing and dicing steals plenty of matches as a dog.

• Moyuka Uchijima — +9.62 units
Solid low-variance profile, wins as a dog and stays safe as a favorite.

• Magdalena Fręch — +7.50 units
Never spectacular, but extremely steady. Quiet bankroll gainer.

• Magda Linette — +7.99 units
A high-floor player. Rarely implodes, and her underdog wins carry her to a strong net.

• Yuliia Starodubtseva — +5.61 units
Small sample when favored, but high-value dog. A reliable situational play.

• Cristina Bucșa — +6.66 units
Profitable across the board. Doesn’t hurt you anywhere.

🟨 Tier 2 – Players Phil Only Trusts as Underdogs

These women are great upset candidates, but they lose so much as favorites that you should avoid them unless the price is right.

Their profiles scream:
“Dog or pass.”

Top Tier 2 Profiles

• Alycia Parks — +12.07 units, but only because of massive dog value
Her favorite record is shaky (–3 units), she double-faults far too much, but she’s one of the best upset hitters on tour. Only bet her as a dog.

• Rebecca Šramková — +2.64 units overall
Profitable, but favorite performance is mediocre. Underdog-only recommended.

• Emiliana Arango — +2.58 units
Most value comes from upset wins. Better as a dog and only on clay.

• Peyton Stearns — +0.94 units
Dog wins carry her entire season. Avoid as a favorite.

• Jessica Bouzas Maneiro — –0.49 units overall but strong as a dog
Gets crushed as a favorite (–15 units). Only playable when priced +money.

🟥 Tier 3 – Players Phil Doesn’t Like to Bet On

These players lose money in both roles OR they win a lot but still burn bankrolls through huge losses as favorites.

These are “red-light” players”—avoid unless extremely situational.

Players to Avoid

• Ekaterina Alexandrova — –15.16 units
A disaster as a favorite (–38 units). Too volatile, too costly.

• Liudmila Samsonova — –9.91 units
Same story: heavy favorite losses wipe out everything.

• Maya Joint — –9.29 units
Twenty-five favorite losses are brutal. No upside as a favorite, but sometimes she can be bet as an underdog on the hard courts.

• Sorana Cîrstea — –6.74 units
Loses a ton as a favorite, not enough upsets to make up for it.

• Dayana Yastremska — –3.39 units
A popular betting pick, but the numbers say: avoid except in rare spots.

• Beatriz Haddad Maia — –0.39 units
Not disastrous, but not profitable, erratic, and rarely worth the price.

• Clara Tauson — –2.12 units
Wins a lot but still loses money. Not reliable enough for favorites, lacks consistency as a dog.

• McCartney Kessler — –1.44 units
Wins both ways but loses too many matches priced as chalk.
