Key 2026 United Cup Storylines

Group A — USA • Spain • Argentina

Team USA should win this group, but keep an eye on Munar. He’s known to pull off an upset or two on this surface. Baez is also coming off a tough 2025, but he has some success on hard courts, which makes this a fun group.

Group B — Canada • Belgium • China

If Mboko and FAA play anywhere close to the level they did in 2025, they should run away with this group. Bergs and Mertens will give the Canadiens a battle, while China will likely struggle to win a tie.

Group C — Italy • France • Switzerland

Paolini and Cobolli should run through Group 3 like a hot knife through Mozzarella, while France will rely more on individual matches. Wawrinka is playing in his last year, and Bencic’s strong 2025 finish gives the Swiss a formidable tandem.

Group D — Australia • Czechia • Norway

Home conditions favor de Minaur Australia, but Mensik is tough as nails with a big game, while Ruud is looking to get back on track for Norway. Krejčíková is the best lady in the group, and if she’s healthy, I’m going with the Czech’s to win Group D.

Group E — Great Britain • Greece • Japan

Injuries, over-hyped “stars”, returning Grand Slam champions, and fading stars looking to bounce back from disastrous 2025 seasons are on par with this group. Greece has a rabid fanbase Down Under, and their tie with Great Britain will likely decide this group.

Group F — Germany • Poland • Netherlands

All three countries can bring it, but Hurkacz is the wild card. If he returns anywhere near his 2024 form, the Poles should be able to win Group F. Germany, with Zverev, and the Netherlands, with underrated Tallon Griekspor, will be a fun group all the way through.
